Care &
Your Tavis piece is built to last. With the right care routine, every finish, fabric, and surface will maintain its beauty for years to come.
PVD Coating
Gold, Rose Gold, Black & Custom PVD Finishes
Note: PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) coatings are highly durable but not indestructible. The coating can develop micro-scratches over time from abrasive contact. Consistent gentle care dramatically extends the finish life.
Do
- Wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth after use
- Use a damp cloth with mild soap for light cleaning — rinse and dry immediately
- Handle with clean hands to avoid fingerprint oil buildup
Don't
- Never use abrasive scrubbers, steel wool, or scouring pads
- Avoid acidic cleaners, bleach, ammonia, or solvent-based products
- Do not leave water pooled on the surface — dry thoroughly after cleaning
- Avoid contact with harsh chemicals such as paint removers or industrial cleaners
- Do not use citrus-based or vinegar-based cleaners

Powder Coat & PVD-Powder Coat
Matte, Satin & Gloss Powder Coat Finishes
Note: Powder coat is more forgiving than PVD and can withstand occasional rough cleaning. The main risk is chipping at edges — if bare metal (MS) is exposed, rust can develop; this does not apply to SS frames. Address chips quickly with touch-up paint.
Do
- Clean regularly with a soft cloth and mild soapy water
- Rinse thoroughly and dry completely to prevent water marks
Don't
- Avoid high-pressure water jets directly on the frame
- Do not use wire brushes or abrasive cleaning pads
- Keep away from prolonged direct sunlight for exterior pieces — use UV-resistant covers
- Avoid harsh chemical degreasers or industrial cleaners

Leather Upholstery
Full-Grain, Top-Grain & Bonded Leather
Note: Real leather develops a natural patina over time, which many consider part of its character. Keep it away from heat vents and direct sunlight — these are the main causes of premature cracking. A well-conditioned leather piece can last decades.
Do
- Wipe spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — blot, do not rub
- Clean every 1–2 months with a dedicated leather cleaner
- Condition with a quality leather conditioner every 3–6 months to prevent drying and cracking
- Keep leather away from direct heat sources and prolonged sunlight
- Use a leather protector spray after conditioning for spill resistance
Don't
- Never use household cleaning products, saddle soap, or baby wipes
- Avoid over-wetting the leather — use conditioner sparingly
- Do not place in direct sunlight for extended periods — UV causes fading and cracking
- Never use heat to dry leather — air dry naturally
- Avoid sharp objects or pet claws that can scratch the surface

Fabric Upholstery
Velvet, Linen, Polyester & Outdoor Fabrics
Note: Velvet requires special care — always brush in one direction with a soft brush to maintain the pile. For outdoor fabrics (like our Garden Sofa Set), store cushions indoors when not in use or use weatherproof covers.
Do
- Vacuum regularly using the upholstery attachment on low suction
- Treat stains immediately — blot with a clean white cloth from outside in
- Use a fabric-appropriate cleaner based on the care code on the label
- Rotate and flip cushions regularly for even wear
- Use a fabric protector spray on new fabric to repel spills
Don't
- Do not rub stains — rubbing spreads and sets them deeper
- Avoid soaking fabric with excess water — can cause mildew
- Do not use bleach on coloured fabrics
- Avoid direct sunlight — most upholstery fabrics will fade over time
- Never machine wash fixed upholstery covers without checking the care label

Wood Surfaces
Solid Wood, Engineered Wood & Reclaimed Wood Tops
Note: Wood is a living material that responds to humidity and temperature changes. In Bangalore's climate, wood may expand slightly in monsoon and contract in summer — this is normal. Keeping indoor humidity between 40–60% extends wood life significantly.
Do
- Wipe spills immediately with a dry cloth
- Use a mild wood cleaner or diluted dish soap for cleaning — dry immediately
- Apply wood oil or furniture polish every 3–6 months to maintain moisture balance
- Use coasters and placemats to protect from heat and moisture rings
- For solid wood, apply a fresh coat of the appropriate finish (oil, wax, lacquer) annually
Don't
- Never place hot objects directly on wood surfaces
- Avoid excessive moisture — do not let water sit on wood
- Do not use all-purpose cleaners or sprays not designed for wood
- Avoid dragging objects across the surface to prevent scratches
- Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent fading and checking
